This book outlines and explains a seventeen point argument for the existence of the theistic God. With begin as its starting point, it is not a restatement of the ontological or cosmological arguments. This argument is rooted in the philosophy of Thomas Aquinas, this articulation of the argument is original to Dr. Norman L. Geisler.

God A Philosophical Argument from Being edition by Norman L Geisler Religion Spirituality eBooks

In this delightful little book Dr. Geisler steps us through one version of "the Ontological Argument", one of the three broad types of argument advanced a few centuries ago in an effort to prove the existence of God. The three types of arguments are categorized as Ontological (for anything to exist, something must exist necessarily), Cosmological (there must be a "first cause") and Teleological (the particular complex structures we find in our universe must, ultimately, have been INTENDED, or be as it were, by DESIGN). None of these three arguments or their variations down through history are really "proofs of God". Each contains contestable assumptions. But given that one accepts the assumptions (provisionally at least) the arguments are sound from a logical perspective.

Geisler begins his little book with a chapter of definitions. He then proceeds to layout his version of the Ontological Argument in 18 steps (and some sub-steps). Following this layout, he summarizes the argument in 5 steps. Next, following the summary he goes back to the longer argument and briefly (a couple of sentences) discusses each step, drawing it out in a little more detail. He ends with a chapter addressing challenges to the argument (again very briefly) and a few other broad questions concerning the rationality of belief in God.

Although very short, the book can be read in an hour or two, Dr. Geisler manages to accomplish his purpose of specifying and explaining the Ontological argument. Not at all an exhaustive examination of this argument either historically or in various of its forms. It is an excellent reference to and summary of the argument, a handy little book for a philosophy student to keep in her back pocket!

A complex topic presented with such clarity. The syllogism is easy to follow. After reading this, more Faith will be needed to debunk theism.
As always, Dr Geisler shows the truth of Christianity through clear and concise syllogistic arguments.
First, I didn't find it very original as claimed.
Second, I didn't find it well-defended (Note that I am speaking from a theist perspective here). It treated many issues too simply for me at least (blame my critical philosophy background).

Other than that, I do usually like Norman Geisler. But this book was just disappointing for me. I would recommend spending on other apologetics books instead. Sorry.
Geisler as usual offers an insightful treatise of the subject. Good read!
Another winner for Dr. Geisler. Can be a difficult read but take your time and digest all he is saying.
This was in Format and for a book of such short length it was very informative and interesting. I will probably study this over and over so as to master the contents for God's glory.
One of the best arguments I know of, but it can be challenging to explain to everyday people.
